Dry Eye Treatment Pre-Care

When you come in for a session with our dry eye specialist in Mechanicsville, we ask patients to do the following:

  • On the day of your appointment, avoid applying any creams, lotions, or makeup near your eyes.
  • Refrain from using lubricating or prescription eye drops within 2 hours of your appointment.
  • Don’t touch or rub your eyes for 2 hours before your appointment.

Dry Eye Treatment Post-Care

There are a few things you can do after a dry eye treatment at Chandler Eye Care Specialists to optimize your results.

  • You can use artificial tears to help relieve any discomfort for a few days after the dry eye treatment.
  • You may apply warm compresses to your eyelids to help liquify the oil secretions to prevent dry eye.
  • Avoid going into direct sunlight for 48 hours post treatment.

Dry Eye Treatment Results

Although a Dry Eye exam is only 30 minutes, you may need 1 to 4 sessions to see and feel optimal results. Eye drops are the usual prescription to treat the symptoms of dry eye. If you use the eye drops as directed, you should experience better comfort and vision within a couple of hours to days after treatment.
